Arsenal manager’s Arsene Wenger has decided to name an unchanged Arsenal side to the one that started the victory against Middlesbrough, with Gabriel, Laurent Koscielny and Rob Holding once again featuring in a three-man defence.
Meanwhile, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has also named an unchanged side to the one that featured in their last outing, with Vincent Kompany featuring in back-to-back games for the first time since the end of October.
Man City have looked the better of the two sides and have enjoyed the vast majority of possession, but, so far, they have nothing to show for their efforts. Despite being on the back foot, Arsenal have been presented with a few decent chances of their own, and they look set up to hit their opponents on the break with long balls forward. The City defence haven’t looked entirely comfortably when trying to deal with them, and that could continue to be a problem in the second half.
62′ Goal Sergio Agüero
City have taken the lead! Ramsey is dispossessed just outside of the City penalty area and allows Toure to break forward quickly. The Ivorian charges forward before launching a wonderful lofted pass up to Aguero, who darts into the box and lifts a delightful chip over the onrushing Cech.
71′ Goal Nacho Monreal
Arsenal are back in the game! Oxlade-Chamberlain gets himself into a good position deep down the right wing once again before curling a cross over to the far post. It flies over a group of City defenders before finding Monreal, who brilliantly rifles a low shot into the back of the net from close range.
101′ Goal Alexis Sánchez
Arsenal have taken the lead! The free-kick causes problems for City, who don’t do at all well in trying to deal with the danger. The ball pinballs around to Welbeck, who tees up Sanchez to comfortably beat Bravo from close range.
The referee blows his whistle for the final time and sends Arsenal into the final of the FA Cup for the third time in four years! The Gunners certainly deserve to be in it after performing incredibly well from the second half onwards, and they defended admirably to keep City at bay after taking the lead through Sanchez.
